Such an interesting take on the topic of religion and institutions! Great work 🙂

Thanks so much, Elle. I’m glad this resonated with you! 🙂

‘deep’ podcast! Religion can be pretty damning…such a messed up institution. Loooove your comic strips…nice! rendered by hand… that’s nifty (your work is so inspirational)

Religion can certainly be a crazy institution, but then I guess anything can be once people are involved. I’m so glad you enjoyed this! 🙂

It took me far too long to listen to the latest episode of the Crumbcast, so for that I apologize.
I really enjoyed this one, especially the way it escalated into a series of commandments to yourself. I hope you maintain them, and I would suggest listening to this whenever you fail. A very stirring piece of oration!
The hanging legs in the strip are genius and apparently divinely inspired as you did not intend for it to look like you had hung yourself on a tree (very Christlike indeed, I say!).
I’m glad you worked past your initial nausea and confronted these issues head on. Keep up the good work.

Oh, Gordon, I love it when you do manage to catch up with one of my ramblings. Please do take your time. It’s no problem for me. 🙂
If I may be so bold… It sounds like you may have some personal investment in this one. It’s interesting (as well as alarming) that there are so many people out there who’ve been used up and spat out by religious organisations everywhere. I wonder how many such souls are out there?
As always, thanks for listening, Gordon. I’m chuffed that you did! (With or without divine intervention… it’s all the same to me.) 😛

I have a great deal of experience with church, if I do say so myself. When I was a teenager, my family was passively ex-communicated from a church we had helped found. My parents are currently on their fifth church. It’s in the basement of a corporate headquarters and the pastor preaches from an iPad.

Don’cha just hate passive ex-communications? That’s kinda what I feel happened to me, only it took me a long time to realise it. I’m slow that way. 😛

Ha it took us a while as well. Not something you get a chance to practice recognizing…or at least it shouldn’t be.

Ha ha! Pooing on someone from a tree would require great balance! 🙂

Well, as someone who has often been accused of being “too nice” I can completely relate to his dilemma. I agree that your colors (colours!) are always phenomenal! Do you render them digitally? Or a mix? Or rather not share your trade secrets? 🙂

Oh, I’m happy to share my trade secrets, Pamo! Ha ha. I draw my strips by hand into an A4 sketchbook, then scan them into Photoshop and colour them there. I do things that way because I’m hopeless at colouring with actual pencils or watercolours or things like that. It’s also my attempt to emulate the lush colour palettes that Hergé would often employ in his excellent The Adventures of Tintin comics.

Well- you do a lovely job of it! I have several Tintin books and adore the palette!

He should save his poo for someone who might appreciate it 😉 Love the colours, Tony!

Thanks, Davina. It’s a constant challenge to get the colours looking just so in a Crumble Cult, so your vote of confidence is music to my ears! 😀

A bit disconcerting seeing those feet hanging like that, but I get your point. 🙂

It’s funny, but it never occurred to me that it would appear that Ernest had hung himself until you said that. Let me assure everyone that it’s not the case! 😮
