Blog Pray Hate

  1. I truly like your voice. Reminds me of 2D from Gorillaz (whom I adore), you have a similar way of speech as well (not implying that you were koshed over the head by an angry pickle πŸ™‚ )

  2. Now I’m listening to the podcast (yeah, it takes me an awful lot of time to listen or watch things), and I have a couple of comments to do.
    1) Your voice is very nice, don’t feel bad about it. It’s pretty normal to hear ourselves in a very different way than others hear us or even when we get recorded.
    2) I love comics and graphic novels. But certainly my readings now are not suitable for small kids.
    3) You still have the degree, you still can go and apply to work on the animation industry. Or any other artistic career that might interest you.
    4) You must be the only Australian I can understand everything when is speaking.
    5) I didn’t know that “Blog pray hate” was a play on words about the title of a movie. As I don’t know that movie, I remain equally ignorant as before. No sweat. xD
    Well, that’s it. Cheers!

    1. 1) Thanks so much! I guess it’s to be expected, huh?
      2) Same here. It’s a good thing that such things exist for us adults too!
      3) I’m working on this. And you’re absolutely right!
      4) I take this as a real compliment. I’m often a bit embarrassed with my Australian accent for the very reason you touch upon. Many of us here in the Land Down Under can be quite difficult to understand.
      5) Honestly? You haven’t missed anything. Many people love that movie but I’m not one of them. πŸ˜›

      1. I had to look in Wikipedia. From what I see, I’m better without this movie. I like some songs from the soundtrack (according to the list there), but they aren’t original to the movie, so I think I can safely ignore it.
Also, I misunderstood the title. I thought it was a whole sentence “Blog pray hate”, “Eat pray love”. But it turns out there are colons in the middle, it’s not a whole sentence but three different words. “Blog, Pray, Hate” “Eat, Pray, Love”
I prefer my original mistake, it makes me think that the blog is praying for hate. πŸ˜›

  3. “An internal thing? – a debate is what I meant to say” Haha!!
You sort of remind me of me here πŸ˜€ Every thing is a thing, not sure why people around me have trouble understanding me πŸ™‚

  4. If a tree falls in the woods and nobody sees it, does it still have value? If Peter Pan never grows up will he eventually ditch Wendy for a younger model?

I loved Fractured Fairy Tales on Rocky and Bullwinkle. I sort-of dimly remember reading Norbit (Norbet? Norbert?) And you can clean for me ANY time . . . how soon can you get here? Bring along some of those flowers and chocolates btw.

    But NO – nobody’s listening.

How about a strip about a self-aggrandizing twittering Trumpet who hates everything (especially losing) – could be a real hit here in America for at least four years.

  5. Wait! I remember “Norbert”. But, I’m still trying to get my head around the picture of you working in a Christian Book Store. And Anthropomorphized Peeps???Are those the marshmallow chicks from the Easter Bunny?I know people who put them in microwaves and blow them up. And I avoided reading that book or seeing the movie, so I guess I didn’t miss much.(Obviously your pod cast has caused my consciousness to stream.) It’s 4AM and I think I’ll try and get some sleep. Sweet Dreams, Tony.

    1. You remember Norbert? AWESOME! I honestly thought I was the only one! πŸ˜› As for working in a Christian book store… yup. That was me at one point in my life. The manager was kind enough to give me a job there, so I’ll always be grateful to him for that. I couldn’t work in such an establishment now though. I think I may have finally moved on from the whole religious thing. Oh, and my pronunciation isn’t always the best, I’m afraid. I was talking about anthropomorphised pigs. Ha ha ha! (Although what you suggested would have actually been an improvement!) Thanks for listening and commenting, Claremary. Sweet dreams! πŸ˜€

      1. Let’s see – there was Norbert and Queenie, Baby Nono and a cat named Clyde. You weren’t imagining it! Of course! Pigs….Charlotte’s Web. Silly me! And I strongly beg to differ with you, I think you have a very good speaking voice, just perfect for stream of consciousness. Sweet Dreams to you, too, Tony

        1. Yes, and I think the comic may have gone through one or two name changes, is that correct? I often wonder if that’s just my memory playing tricks on me but I’d swear it was Lil’ Norbert or Lil’ Nono at some point. Well, I couldn’t swear really. I’ve no idea. Ha ha! And thank you for your kind assessment of my voice. I’ll learn to love it too. Eventually. Maybe. πŸ˜›

          1. Yup – Little No-No. I also remember Dondi with the big brown eyes. But that may have been even before your time! I wrote my own cartoons when I was little, but I had no artistic talent so that’s why I never became famous. Such a waste of absolutely no talent! I was a radio disc jockey for a short time so maybe I could do podcasts? Cue the strange music…..Hmmmmm? I think I’ll leave both of those to you and stick with blog text and photos.

            1. Podcasts? Why not? I’m always looking for something to listen to while I draw, and I’ve a feeling you’d put together quite an interesting podcast. So, yeah, I wouldn’t discount yourself just yet! Still, if blog text and photos is what we get then that’s far better than nothing at all! πŸ™‚

  6. As I already said, everything you do comes out excellent!
I read Eat Pray Love because a friend said it was a great book. When I finished, I thought something was wrong with me. For a good measure, I watched the movie too. It helped. Now I know that I am fine πŸ™‚

  8. Dear Tony,

I have no clue about anything, either. (HA! You probably don’t even remember saying that, do you?)

I hope you don’t mind if I start from the beginning. You will probably start to hate me, because I will comment, too, and then you will have to go back and remind yourself what you did so you will know what I’m talking about.

    I know. I am a terrible human being. (Muah-hahaha!)

    All My Love,
    Jennifer

P.S. I don’t know what you really thought about that song, but I could listen to that forever and ever. All right. I’m going away now.

    1. No need to go away, Jennifer. You are very welcome here! And I love that you’re going back to the beginning because that’s certainly the way Crumble Cult is meant to be read!

You’ll even have the dubious pleasure of listening to my series of podcasts from the beginning too. They’re embedded beneath each post, or you can access them via the Crumbcast page under Extras in the menu. (Okay Tony, that’s enough shameless plugging!)

      PS: I do remember! πŸ™‚

PPS: That song was awesome. Seriously. You should see my CD list some time. I have some pretty serious crazy in there! πŸ˜‰

  9. OK- I just got it Tony. You started Crumble Cult, weekly webcomic, in January 2012 and posted for two years through December 2013. Uh…. WOW! OK, now I know how to read from beginning to current. I’m off to read!
(And now I’m even more excited for your return!)

As for computers… well, I have a love/hate thing going on with mine. I couldn’t colour my art or purchase books online if I didn’t have it, but it sure likes to make my life difficult in so many other ways!

    1. Thanks, Lynn. It seems as if that posting problem was a one off. At least, I hope so.

I look forward to having you around and to me being around for a good while now! Having a blog at all feels like a big hurdle, but a worthwhile one to overcome.

Wait… that didn’t sound right, did it?

  14. Hi Tony.

Congratulations on getting your new blog launched! This post has been another testament to how talented of an artist you are. The illustrations are brilliant. Hehe… with regards to this comic, I’ve felt that way sometimes. I like the last frame with the kitty cat purring in the background πŸ™‚

    1. Well, I should probably start responding to people’s comments. It would be a bit rude not to. πŸ˜›

Davina, it’s good to be back in blogging land. I’m easing myself in slowly this time, and this blog is much closer to my personal sensibilities than ever before. It’s a good fit!

That kitty is based on a childhood pet of Cassy’s. His name was Solomon, and thus shall this kitty be named!
